Commissioned Paintings

Made just for you

Over the years, I have worked with many clients, both private and professional to develop one of a kind paintings that fit the exact needs of a home or business. I work individually with the client to tailor a painting to match the clients desires. Each project is unique and the resulting painting is something that is treasured for years to come.

Commission process

I try to keep the commissioned painting process simple and pain free so that there are no surprises and you can be confident the finished result will delight!

  1. Initial Consultation: First I meet with you most of the time in person if possible, or over the phone and email for out of state commissions. During this first consultation I find out what you are looking for and where the painting will hang. I usually will go over a selection of previous paintings to see what aesthetic you are drawn to and what color scheme you enjoy in previous works. And we discuss what subject matter you would like in the painting. Then we determine the size of painting that you are wanting. Once a size and subject matter is determined, I give a quote for the painting and a 50% deposit is made.

  2. After the deposit, I get to work developing a preliminary compositional color sketch in gauche (opaque watercolor). This color sketch gives the overall color palette and composition for the painting. I then show you the sketch for review (usually by email). If there are minor adjustments desired for the sketch, I make the adjustments to the sketch and present for review. Once you are happy with the sketch, I then proceed to painting at full scale on the canvas.

  3. With sketch approved, I begin painting the oil on canvas and bring the painting to completion.

  4. A meeting is set to view the final painting. (this is when tears often flow because you are so enamored with the finished painting! ) Upon approval final 50% is paid.
