When you paint for the joy of it, I believe that life comes through. I have been muling over the idea for this painting for years and never could see if fully until I had primed this 12x24 canvas. The size and shape was just right for this scene I wanted to capture. This is somewhat of a time travel painting, as I am imagining what the Newfound Gap area use to look like before the convenience of the road was made to get there. The light on tip of the mountain was just to delightful to pass up. I love how the composition finally came together. Some ideas are worth waiting for the right moment to bring to fruition.
